Get to know Mindy

I came to becoming a published author later in life, though I have been writing since I was old enough to hold crayons to the wall. I feel God planned that accordingly, as the older I got, the more life experiences I had. I give all my words to Him, for helping me create stories with deeper realism and unflinching faith.

I love touching all the senses to make readers laugh, cry, and root for the happy-ever-after. My stories are faith tested, inspirationally driven, and at times, a lit grit added to the grace of two characters struggling through difficulty. Since my debut novel, To Catch A Hummingbird in 2021, I have written a dozen novels and novellas. I’ve been a finalist in the Reader’s Choice Awards, and the 2022 & 2024 Winner of the Reader’s Choice Award for Sweet Inspirational Romance for the first Hallmark Publishing romance, An Amish Flower Farm and my debut novel with Barbour Publishing, The Flower Quilter. I have been honored by readers for making the best seller lists multiple times. I can’t thank readers enough for finding love in these stories.

Though I love researching my stories and meeting readers, my heart is at home, among Amish and English where sometimes I forget which side of the fence I live on. Regardless of the story that is in the works currently, a journey is promised, strength is found, and encouragement is woven in. Life has enough rough corners, adding a little fiction smooths out the edges.

Steele lives in northeastern Kentucky with her husband, Mike. They have five grown children, eleven grandchildren, and many wonderful neighbors.

Represented by Julie Gwinn with the Seymour Agency, and is published by Barbour Publishing, Hallmark Publishing, Love Inspired, Vinspire, Entangled, Ally Press, and Steele Publishing.

  1. Mindy, I ordered your book today, “An Amish Flower Farm”. It seems lately I keep running across Kentucky authors. Last year I read “OH Kentucky” and its sequel by Betty Receveur, then a few weeks ago I finished ” Book Woman of Troublesome Creek” by Kim Richardson. Its sequel ” Book Woman’s Daughter” is being released in May. What little I know from your website about your “Flower Farm” girl, seems to follow the story line of the “Book Woman” she also is unmarried and finds romance, hence the sequel. The “Book Woman” is a blue-skinned person and base on a factual family in Eastern Kentucky in the 1930s. I look forward to reading your new book. I read its book review in the last edition of the Kentucky Living magazine. Have a blessed day! Richard Sloan, Simpsonville, KY

  2. Mindy–I just finished reading Christmas Grace. It’s a darling read. I read many different Amish authors’ texts, and this is one of my favorites.

  3. Hi Mindy! Thanks to you for writing such entertaining and inspirational books! As I am a voracious reader, I am reading several books this time- including The Amish Flower Farmer! You have a way of painting pictures with words and “showing” your readers the beauty of the land around us!

  4. I loved your blog Love at its Core.” I have two sons who grew up hunting with their dad.

The sacrifices and love shown between them is wonderful. It’s a very touching story. The pics were great also.

  5. I enjoyed The Amish Flower Farm. Are there other books in this series? I wonder what happened to Tabitha and Ivan, and Mica. I’d love to see more books about these characters.

    • Thank you so much for reading Bee and Adam’s story. I have written both Mica and Tab’s story, sent it off two years ago, but sadly Hallmark Publishing closed it’s doors, leaving authors, and wonderful books, idle. I do hope to see these published in 2025. Follow me on Facebook or my readers group, Mindy Steele’s Over The Fence Friends.

  6. Hi Mindy. My name is Lora Gowins and I live in Versailles KY. (About 10 minutes from Lexington) I lead a women’s book club at our church, and also run the church library. I have never read any of your books but just downloaded Hunting for a Husband. My question to you is, do you ever visit book club meetings to speak about your books?

    • I absolutely do! Since my Hallmark debut, I’ve been blessed with meeting readers in various settings. I love book clubs and libraries and I’m a strong supporter of both. Thank you for reaching out. I would be happy to discuss Leah and Joe with you and your friends. You may reach out by email, msteelem@yahoo.com, or message me on facebook!
